Since 1993, Words has been the premier showcase open mic event in NYC. It features opening acts by some of the best up and coming emcees and poets, and is followed by an open mic for visiting emcees and poets to show their skills while a live band and DJ Boo on the turntables backs them up. Words is hosted by WiseGuy & Gaston and is presented the third saturday of every month at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. This is a legendary hip hop poetry club in New York City's East Village.
